Private Parties in Public Spaces
Student Private Parties
Forms are available in the Campus Activities Office. Upon completing the form and getting all other necessary signatures, the sponsor must see the receptionist in order to make an appointment to meet with the Executive Director of Campus Activities. If there is alcohol, the sponsor MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE. Students also must have completed the Party Host Education class first. Contact the Director of Res Life for more information.
- Private parties held within a residence hall public space require a signature from the appropriate House Advisor.
- Private Parties held in the TA’s, TH’s and South Commons require a signature on their form from the Assistant Director of Residential Life.
- Additionally, outdoor parties may require a signature from the above listed personnel depending upon location.
- Please note that outdoor parties will necessitate plans in case of rain or cold weather.
Employee Private Parties
Eligibility:
- Vassar College employees are permitted to schedule personal celebrations such as baby and bridal showers, birthday and anniversary parties
- Requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and are only allowed during the non-academic year, such as October, Winter and Spring breaks.
- Wedding receptions are NOT permitted
- The sponsor must be at the party/celebration at all times
- You may not charge entrance to your party/celebration
- You may NOT reserve a space for any other person ie;(friends or family members)
Scheduling:
- Meet with Cathy Jennings to schedule space
- All Vassar employees must complete a Private Party Registration form at the time of reserving the space
- Fee must be paid by cash or check at time of reserving space
- Meet with Michelle Ransom regarding room expectations
Available Locations:
- College Center Multipurpose Room - $90 fee
- Main Parlors (fee to be determined at time of reservation)
- Aula - $90 fee
The Campus Activities Office is responsible for reserving and administering the private party policy for Vassar employees and will assist employees with the use of college space for personal celebrations. Employees must understand that the needs of the College come first, but whenever possible the Campus Activities Office will provide space to employees for Private Functions. Please note that the fees are collected to offset the real and actual cost of the service provided and not to make a profit.
